OpenBridge for atvise®
Bachmann electronic is unveiling a new, maritime-specific template that integrates the open-source openBridge web components directly into atvise®, its web-based visualization platform, and into webMI pro. The new "OpenBridge for atvise" template enables fast, standards-compliant, and still fully customizable implementation of maritime applications such as ship bridges.
atvise® is Bachmann's HMI and SCADA solution, built consistently on pure web technology and OPC UA, and scalable from a single machine to a distributed control room solution. This open architecture is the foundation on which the new openBridge template is built. The familiar graphical drag-and-drop development environment in the atvise® builder remains unchanged, while the openBridge components and icons are available as reusable building blocks that automatically adapt to the defined themes — including brightness settings for day and night operation.
The maritime template was made possible by a close, collaborative partnership with openBridge and its community. Developed by the Ocean Industries Concept Lab at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design and aligned with standards such as IEC 62288 and ISA 101, the design system is backed by more than 40 industry and research partners and over 1,000 registered maritime companies. With the release of the open-source openBridge code library in spring 2026, it has become a shared, vendor-neutral standard.
What sets the Bachmann solution apart is its all-inclusive reach across every level: it supports atvise® hmi, atvise® scada, and the atvise® bundles, as well as webMI pro — the onboard visualization that runs directly on the Bachmann controller. The result is a single, consistent user interface spanning everything from onboard machine and device level to the overarching control room level, with no gaps in design, data model, or operating logic.
For shipyards, system integrators, and maritime OEMs, this translates into immediate value: the template accelerates development and cuts engineering effort, while still leaving plenty of room for customization and corporate branding. Because it's built entirely on established standards — web technology, OPC UA, and openBridge — customers also benefit from a familiar, consistent crew experience and long-term investment security.
"With 'OpenBridge for atvise,' we're bringing together the best of both worlds: the openness of atvise® and a jointly maintained design standard. The result is a seamless visualization solution that's quick to deploy yet still fully customizable," says Daniel Lomosits, HMI/SCADA Product Manager at Bachmann Visutec.
