Scalable Condition Monitoring for Maritime Applica 661
Scalable Condition Monitoring for Maritime Applica

Bachmann electronic presents its portfolio of smart maintenance solutions for the maritime sector. The scalable condition monitoring approach flexibly adapts to the requirements of ships and other maritime systems, enabling gradual implementation.

The concept begins by systematically capturing and analyzing existing process data without additional sensors. Integration into the control environment ensures rapid commissioning and seamless coupling with other system data. Subsequently, vibration sensors can be connected via an AIC module to capture RMS values and integrate them with existing process information. An optional grid module captures electrical parameters, which are also incorporated into the analysis.

In a later stage, a standardized CMS function is integrated, using expanded data from the AIC modules and linking it with a kinematic model of the system. This allows for more accurate diagnostics, such as early identification of damage in bearings or gearboxes. Here as well, evaluation is performed directly on the controller, minimizing response times while maintaining data consistency. In the final stage, the smart maintenance system evolves into a predictive maintenance solution that identifies critical wear and issues early warnings to prevent downtime.

The solution relies on robust, certified hardware components such as the AIC206 and AIC214 modules, as well as the standardized CMSPLC application platform. System architecture emphasizes redundancy, security, and network connectivity, with network and hot-standby redundancy guaranteeing continuous availability. Seamless integration into the automation environment is supported by common programming languages, model-based development, and full support for all IEC 61131-3 languages. Visualization is available through web-based HMI systems such as atvise or directly in the controller via webMiPro, while the architecture also satisfies stringent real-time and tamper-proofing requirements.
